In one sentence: your manuscript is never uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to. This site is a static page with no backend, no database and no accounts.

Your manuscript

The Word file you open is read by JavaScript running in your browser tab. It is parsed there, typeset there, and both exports are generated there. No part of it is transmitted anywhere: not to this site, not to a third party, not for “processing” and not in an anonymised form.

This is not a policy commitment that could be quietly reversed. It is a property of how the site is built: there is no server-side code. You can verify it in about ten seconds: load the page, turn off your network connection, and format a book. It works, because nothing it does needs a network.

The only exception is the typefaces, which are files served from this domain and fetched the first time you pick a design. They travel one way: fonts come down, nothing goes up.

What is stored on your device

So that you can close the tab and come back, the tool keeps your book in your browser’s IndexedDB: the text, the images, the metadata you typed and your design settings. That storage belongs to your browser profile on your machine. It is not synced, not backed up by us, and not readable by this site from any other device.

It is also not a backup. Clearing site data removes it, a private window never had it, and a browser may evict it when storage runs short. The “Save project” button writes a file you keep; that is the backup.

“Start over” deletes it immediately and completely.

Analytics, and what they can and cannot see

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not build a profile of you or follow you between sites. Its script is served from this domain rather than from a third-party host. It records page views: which page, which country, which kind of device, and the site you arrived from.

A small number of anonymous product events are recorded alongside those: that a file was opened and of which type, that a typeset ran and roughly how long it took, that an export succeeded or failed, how long the book was as one of six broad bands.

No part of a manuscript is ever included in an event. Not a title, not a chapter heading, not a word of the text, and not a word count precise enough to identify a particular book. Every value sent is either a fixed term from a short list or a range. The code that enforces this is one file, and the rule is written at the top of it.

URLs are recorded with the query string removed before the request leaves your browser.

Server logs

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States. Like any web host, Vercel records requests for the files that make up the page (the HTML, the scripts, the typefaces) along with IP addresses, for a limited period and for security and operational purposes. Those logs contain requests for files; they cannot contain your manuscript, because your manuscript is never requested from or sent to a server. Vercel’s own privacy policy covers what it does with them.

Cookies and third parties

No cookies are set. There are no advertising networks, no tracking pixels, no embedded widgets, no fonts loaded from Google, and no third-party scripts of any kind. A strict Content-Security-Policy is served on every page, which blocks the browser from connecting anywhere other than this domain, so even a bug could not send your work somewhere.

Your rights, and the short answer about them

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection over personal data held about you. The honest position here is that there is almost nothing to exercise them against: no account exists, no email address is collected, and nothing you type is stored anywhere but your own browser. Aggregate analytics are not linked to an identifiable person.

To erase everything this site has placed on your device, use “Start over” in the tool, or clear site data for this domain in your browser. For anything else, write to damienyvert.dev@gmail.com. The publisher is Damien Yvert; the full identification is on the legal notice.

Children

The site is not directed at children and collects nothing that would identify anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that made the first sentence untrue would be a different product, and would be announced as one.
